Showtime has filled a mysterious and anticipated role for the second season of its hit series Yellowjackets as Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi) has been cast as the adult Lottie Matthews for the season’s modern day setting.
Lottie Matthews is a mysterious young girl who survives the Yellowjackets’ plane crash in the woods. She is a medicated schizophrenic and begins to have visions and hallucinations after her medication runs out. She develops a bit of a following among the survivors and is someone they rarely ever mention as adults.
Courtney Eaton (Mad Max: Fury Road), who portrays Lottie in 1996, has been upped to a series regular role from her recurring status in the first season and Kessell will also be a regular as viewers will finally find out what Lottie has been up to in the 25 years since the crash.
Kessell recently starred in the Disney+ Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi as Breha Organa, Princess Leia’s adoptive mother.
Also joining the series is Lauren Ambrose (Servant) as the adult Van, one of the other survivors who begins a relationship with Jasmin Savoy Brown’s Taissa and follows Lottie as a teenager. Ambrose has a series regular role while Van’s teenaged actress Liv Hewson (Santa Clarita Diet) has also been upped from recurring to regular.
YELLOWJACKETS is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.
Yellowjackets stars Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sammi Hanratty, Ella Purnell, Steven Krueger, Amy Okuda and Warren Kole.
