The next prequel in the Yellowstone franchise has made a new addition to its cast with Deadline reporting that Sebastian Roché (The Vampire Diaries) will join Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in the series.
Yellowstone follows the Dutton family as they fight to keep control of their large sect of land from a variety of sources within and outside of Montana. The first prequel miniseries, 1883, focused on how the Duttons came to own the land. 1923 will follow the next generation of Duttons as they struggle against drought, prohibition and Montana’s own great depression years before the rest of the world felt it.
Ford and Mirren will lead the series, though their characters have not yet been announced. Likewise, Roché’s character has not been revealed.

1923 focuses on the Dutton family’s next two generations as they struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft; all battled beneath the cloud of Montana’s great depression, which preceded the nation by almost a decade.
1923 is expected to premiere this December on Paramount+ with the fifth season of Yellowstone premiering in November.
