Nintendo’s newest release, Yoshi’s Crafted World, makes waves in the retail charts this week by taking the number one slot. It’s been a good week for the Japanese console manufacturer as they manged to take up two of the top five spots as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe climbed to fifth from the number six position it occupied the week before.
This week also marks the first time in which Red Dead Redemption 2 has not been in the top five slots of the retail charts since it’s launch last year; the Rockstar title now sits at the number seven slot.
Assassin’s Creed 3’s remaster launched last week but only managed to reach the number nine slot. Its lower position may be due to the fact that the game is also available through the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey season pass; any digital downloads of the game will not contribute to the overall retail statistic. Other releases last week faired just as poorly. Generation Zero and The Walking Dead: The Final Season did not even manage to reach any of the top fifteen spots.
Some games have taken a substantial drop since last week too. Anthem continues its downward spiral out of the charts as it dropped another fifteen slots to the number thirty position. Now Bioware’s looter-shooter has to share a market space with the much more favourably reviewed, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 of the same game genre; it is no wonder that Anthem is freefalling as fast as it is.
