Deadline is reporting that writer-director Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, The Bad Batch) is looking to enlist Zac Efron (Baywatch), Kate Hudson (Mother’s Day) and Craig Robinson (An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn) for her new film Blood Moon.
The film is described as inspired by fantasy movies of the 80s and 90s and will follow a girl with strange and dangerous abilities who escapes from a mental asylum in New Orleans. It will apparently “pair strange, violent, and humorous sequences with a range of music from heavy metal to Italian techno”.
“Lily’s unique vision and poetic style sets her apart from the pack,” said producer John Lesher (Birdman). “She is truly one of the most exciting filmmakers working today.”
In addition to the acclaimed features A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night and The Bad Batch, Amirpour has recently directed episodes of Legion and Castle Rock along with the Sam Esmail-produced pilot Briarpatch. She is also set to helm an episode of the rebooted The Twilight Zone from executive producer Jordan Peele.
