Zach Galligan is still hoping for Gremlins 3

Zach Galligan knows fans want more Gremlins, and he’s open to returning. While speaking with Screen Rant at the Saturn Awards, Galligan talked about the state of a potential Gremlins 3 and how he wants to avoid the reboot path.

The actor tells the outlet: “I do. I can’t really figure out why Warner Bros. would do two seasons – not one, but two seasons – of the animated series and spend a lot of money on it unless there was some kind of endgame. And usually the endgame for a huge studio like Warner Bros. Discovery is a live-action film. A live-action film is always where you’re going to make the most money. Super Mario Bros. just proved that!”

“The endgame probably will be, I’m hoping, a third film,” he added. “I don’t think it’ll be a reboot, though, because Chris Columbus has nixed that idea. He owns part of the rights.”

Gremlins was a 1984 cult classic that became a Christmas staple for many viewers. It featured a leading cast of Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Hoyt Axton, John Louie, and Keye Luke. Galligan and Cates would return for the sequel a few years later.

The first season of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai is available to stream on Max.
