Despite Joker grossing over a billion dollars at the box office and walking away with two Oscars including Best Actor for Joaquin Pheonix and Best Original Score, Pheonix’s co-star Zazie Beetz doesn’t think there needs to be a sequel.
At the Academy Awards, MTV News spoke to Beetz on the red carpet regarding a Joker sequel, to which she stated that she isn’t sure it needs a continuation despite director Todd Phillips being open to the idea.
“Ah, I don’t know. I don’t know if it needs one. I think there is a lot of strength in not milking something,” Beetz said. “Honestly, I feel like Todd would be the person to be able to do that tastefully I think if he felt it needed one. I really trust him. He’s really creative and smart – so sure!”
