In what is being described as a Hannibal Lecter-Clarice Starling style relationship, Tom Hardy and Zazie Beetz are set to star as serial killer and investigator in Apple TV+ drama series Lazarus.
According to Deadline the two are nearing deals to headline the series, which will be an adaptation of the Joona Linna book series by Lars Kepler (writers Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril), which have sold almost 17 million copies worldwide. Øystein Karlsen (Exit) is set to write and direct the show.
As per the report, Lazarus tells the story of an emaciated young man who is found wandering along a train track. Thirteen years earlier, he and his sister went missing, presumed victims of the notorious serial killer Jurek Walter. To find the sister, police detective Saga Bauer must go undercover in the maximum-security psychiatric hospital where Jurek Walter has been kept since his arrest years ago.
Academy-Award nominee Tom Hardy (The Revenant) will play Jurek Walter, while Zazie Beetz (Joker) will portray Inspector Saga Bauer.
