Disney’s latest animated offering Zootopia (or Zootropolis as it is known here in the UK) has become the second film of the year to cross the $700 million mark worldwide, with the film currently sitting on $715.4 million.
Zootopia is the second-highest grossing film of the year so far behind 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool ($745.4 million), and is also the third-highest grossing Walt Disney Animated Classics release behind Frozen ($1.28 billion) and The Lion King ($987 million). It also gave Disney Animation its best ever debut when it opened in the States earlier this month.

“The modern mammal metropolis of Zootropolis is a city like no other. Comprised of habitatneighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together — a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery.”
