Walt Disney Pictures’ Zootopia has continued its fine box office run, cracking the $900 million mark this weekend as its pushes its worldwide haul to $907 million and counting.
Zootopia is the highest-grossing movie of the year so far, and Disney’s third biggest animated movie of all time behind Frozen ($1.276 billion) and The Lion King ($987.5 million) – although it is second if you discount The Lion King’s reissues.
In other celebratory news for Disney, Jon Favreau’s live-action retelling of the animated classic The Jungle Book has pushed its cume to $528.5 million after just two weekends on screens.
Meanwhile, its hopes of a billion may be in tatters, but Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has inched past the $850 million mark around the globe, and is currently sitting in seventh place behind Spider-Man 3 ($890.9 million) in the list of the highest-grossing superhero movies of all time.
